The Ball |
The official ball used must be a tennis ball: The official diameter as 6.54–6.86 cm (2.57–2.70 inches). Balls must have masses in the range 56.0–59.4 g (1.98–2.10 ounces). |
Number of Players |
Consist of 8 players on the field, and a maximum of 14 total players. Teams must be Coed. Teams may use up to the balance of their rosters as substitutes without restriction during games. |
Number of Umpires |
2 umpires on the field, 3rd umpire off the field, 1 match referee. |
Scoring Methods |
A player scores a run for every base he/she reaches after hitting the ball. They will not subsequently score when moving around the bases on another player's hit unless 1) they complete a successful circuit of all three bases (i.e. reach home plate), or 2) they manage to steal a base. Home Run (i.e.) = 4 points. Grand Slam (a Home Run with all bases occupied) = 7 points. |
The Field |
The same dimensions as a little league baseball diamond. |
The Field:
- Outfield fence = minimum of 200'.
- Baselines = 60 feet (18.29 m).
- Each team has 5-9 innings. An innings ends when all 8 players are either dismissed or stranded on base.
- Ball = Tennis Ball (official diameter of 2.57–2.70"; mass = 1.98–2.10oz).
- Bat = Golf Clubs (Wedges & Irons only).
- Golf tee mats with rubber tees must be used.
- Baseball gloves are not allowed.
- Teams are required to be coed.
- Min of 10 and max of 14 players on Roster.
- Defensive Players in Field = 8 (1B/2B/3B/4B/SS/RF/CF/LF).
- Teams may use up to the balance of their rosters as substitutes without restriction during games.
- Delivery = golf swing.
- Bunting = Not Allowed.
- Base Stealing = Allowed at any time the ball is live.
- Team Batting Order = The Away Team Bats First and the Home Team Bats last.
- Individual Batting Order = must alternate either boy/girl or girl/boy.
- All players can change their clubs for each at-plate appearance if they wish to do so; however, they can only use one club per at-bat.
- The batter has 3 attempts available during their turn at bat. A fair hit does not require the batter to reach base; all three attempts can be used before the batter must reach first base.
- Dismissal procedure = automatic.
- Strikeout (any combination of 3 missed swings).
- Fly-out (catching ball before landing).
- Tag-out (tagging runner/bat or base before runner/bat touches base).
- Interference (batter or runner intentionally interfering with the fielding side).
- Handled ball twice (club touches ball twice or feet hits ball outside batter’s box).
- Timed Out (taking more than 3 minutes to be ready for their at-bat).
- Retired (leaving the field of play without the Umpire's consent for any reason other than injury, incapacity, or being dismissed).
- # of base runs after a hit = # of points.
- Players already on base cannot score by advancing to another base on another player's hit, but can score by either stealing a base or reaching the pitch after reaching all 3 bases (1 point for either action).
- Home Run = 4 points + # of baserunners.
- Format = Runs/Outs (EX: 50-7 = 50 runs and 7 outs).
- T-shirt, Shorts, Ball Cap, Cleats.
- Similar to rugby, both teams must wear their dark color uniforms during games unless either 1) the teams share similar colors or 2) if someone is colorblind; If that is the case, the designate.d home team will wear their dark color uniforms and the away team will wear either 1) their lighter color uniforms or 2) an alternative darker color uniform.
